Chainsaw Man manga is revving towards its conclusion

This weeks issue of Weekly Shonen Jump announced that Tatsuki Fujimoto’s nihilistic shonen horror manga Chainsaw Man is heading into its “final stage” with the next chapter.

What that means for the remaining length of the manga is debatable. The events of the recent chapters of Chainsaw Man imply things are wrapping up, but people have been saying that about One Piece for years now.

Normally, I would put a summary of the series here, but I’m at a loss for words. I’ve read every chapter, and I still don’t know what the fuck is going on in this manga. It opens with a homeless guy named Denji who is drowning in debt. Through a series of circumstances that ride a line between being prodigious and incoherent, he’s transformed into an unkillable chainsaw monster.

Beyond that, I don’t know what to tell you.

Viz Media has been releasing chapters digitally in English since its debut in December 2018. They released the first print volume on October 6. The ninth volume comes out in Japan on November 4.
