Toei Animation shared a video clip of Dragon Ball Super: Broly on Twitter this week to celebrate the film’s two year anniversary. Some fans pointed out that it sounded like they replaced Vic Mignogna’s performance with Johnny Yong Bosch.

Bosch took over the role of Broly in 2019 after Funimation cut ties with Mignogna over allegations of sexual harassment. However, Dragon Ball Super: Broly came out on home video eight months before he was recast.

While it wouldn’t be unheard of to replace a cast member for a reprint — Kira Vincent-Davis replaced Krystal LaPorte in Sentai Filmwork’s SteelBook version of Beyond the Boundary — it’s still unlikely that Funimation would redub the film two years after it’s release.

There’s also this YouTube clip of the same scene that was posted in 2019, two months before the announcement of Mignogna’s replacement. While it looks terrible because it’s been converted to 60fps, the audio is identical.
